Green Earth’s scooters are a scooter manufacturing company dedicated to preservation. Their mission statement quoted from their website:
“Our mission is simple. We do not want to be responsible for the next endangered species. We intend to use this company to help promote conservation and environmental awareness, focusing on the unnecessary waste of our limited natural resources.”
They claim their scooters are the most environmentally friendly scooters available. According to Green Earth their entire scooter range feature a 4 stroke engine as opposed to the typically two stroke featured in most scooters.
They claim that such an engine provides multiple advantages to the rider. While reducing noise pollution 4 stroke engines consume less fuel than their two stroke counterparts and last much longer, thus reducing repairs, lowering fuel costs and of course benefiting the environment significantly.
In this article we will be taking a close look at three of Green Earth’s featured scooters as well as the Green Earth company.
Verona HY-Top 50 2011

Well take a look first at the elephant in the room. 100 miles a gallon! Seriously a 100 miles a gallon. Such a stat clearly pushes this line of scooters as the first choice for conservation enthusiasts. Not many scooters can achieve such a high a MPG. However in my opinion this scooter is ugly! Of course this is personal opinion but the combination of greens to me looks tacky. Not very fast either with a max speed of 30 MPH.
Dash 150 XE Sport 2011

A much sexier scooter than its Verona brother this scooter has a much larger engine size of 149 cc . With a max speed of 55mph this scooter is definitely more powerful. Other than that the Dash 150 is very similar to the Verona. It comes in a number of colours including Blue sky, Yellow XL, Black, Coffee brown, sterling silver and my personal favourite Torch red.
Biella 150 2011

With an engine size of 150cc and a max speed of 55 mph the Biella 150 is the most popular scooter in the Green Earth range. Based on a classic Italian design the Biella is a touch of old school beauty and class, one of my personal favourites in this range. Also includes a fully automated transmission (CVT). One of the better scooters out there in my opinion.
I personally think the idea of scooters focused on environmental preservation and cheap fuel costs is the way forward, although after searching the internet for information on Green Earth it has become clear that a few consumers have had problems with the American Firm.
It seems that the consensus from reviewers online is that the green earth scooter range are the average Chinese based scooters, slightly modified for a better MPG. Checking with the Better Business Bureau it seems Green earth currently has seven separate unresolved complaints placed against them. They are apparently avoiding phone calls and emails are going unanswered. Not very reassuring.
My advice would be to ensure you use extreme caution if you’re in the market for an environmentally sound scooter and are considering GreenEarth. It may be better to purchase from a reseller, second hand to ensure you get the maximum value for your money. If your know your way around scooter repairs it may not be a problem for you, however I wouldn’t rely on Green Earth for repairs and definitely not trust the warranty they offer.
